Thom has spent more than 20 years working as a professional within the entertainment industry. In that time he has developed a unique skillset making him a true jack-of-all-trades.
As an educator, Thom has always sought out new and exciting opportunities to engage with students from pre-school through to post-secondary institutions and beyond. He trained as a Montessori educator and spent time teaching elementary school music before joining the faculty for Sheridan College’s Music Theatre Department, where he taught masterclasses in pop/commercial performance and a regular panelist for both program admission and final-year performance critiques.
As an artist, Thom has toured extensively throughout Canada and the US, headlining festivals and theatres, and in support of other acts including 5440, Matt Dusk, Fred Penner, Laurence Gowan, and comedy legend Jay Leno. He has performed national anthems for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors and the Vancouver Grizzlies (remember them?) as well as dates with the CNE, PNE, Royal Winter Fair and the Calgary Stampede. His voice can be heard in radio jingles (let's go to the ex!), cartoon voiceovers , and in support of other artists and recording projects, receiving a gold record in 2007 for the album Stocking Stuffer and the #1 selling album in Toronto in 2011 for the album Nothing But Blue. Thom continues to tour and perform regularly, fronting Off The Rock - a Great Big Sea tribute, and Celtic/Folk band Screeched Inn.
Thom has been running Engarde! since 2003, tailoring programs to meet the individual needs of each group he works with. By working with directors, and drama and physical educators at the elementary and secondary levels, Engarde! programming brings new and exciting elements to any project or lesson plan.
